The bondage harness has moved from the BDSM basement to the catwalk. You'll see them over a dress, over a blouse and, of course, in the bedroom. A harness changes the shape of your body in one movement: it draws lines, accentuates your waist and says without words who's in charge. Here's how to choose and wear one properly.
Which types are there?
Body harness. Straps across the chest, waist and sometimes hips. The most complete and most eye-catching model. Looks great on bare skin or over a bodysuit.
Chest harness. Only around the upper part of your torso. Wear it over a bra, a top or a dress. The easiest way in.
Hip and bum harness. Straps around the waist and along the bum. Pairs perfectly with a thong and stockings.
Leg harness. A strap around the thigh, attached to a waist belt. Ideal under a skirt with a slit.

Elastic or leather?
Elastic harnesses are soft, stretch with you and fit almost everyone. They're lightweight and comfortable, even for a whole evening. Perfect as a first harness.
Leather or leather-look (PU) is sturdy, glossy and looks more expensive. It holds its shape better and doesn't stretch, so the size needs to be right. These harnesses have adjustable buckles, so you can adjust each strap separately.
Choosing the right size
Measure your underbust, waist and hips with a measuring tape and compare with the size information in the product description. Between two sizes? For elastic, choose the smaller size so it stays snug. For leather, choose the larger size, as leather doesn't stretch. Many models are one size with adjustable straps and fit sizes S to L.
How to put it on
- Loosen all buckles first. A harness that's too tight won't go over your head.
- Step into it or pull it over your head, depending on the model. Start with the waist or chest strap, which determines where the rest goes.
- Tighten the straps one by one, from top to bottom. Make sure they sit symmetrically.
- The harness should be snug, but you should be able to slip a finger under the strap everywhere.
How to style it
- On bare skin, with just a thong: the classic bedroom look.
- Over lingerie: a body harness over a bodysuit or bra set adds depth and colour.
- Over clothing: a chest harness over a fitted black top or a dress is ready for going out. Nobody needs to know what else you're wearing.
- With stockings and heels: a hip and bum harness completes the picture.

Frequently asked questions
Can you wear a harness over clothing?
Yes. A chest harness over a fitted top, a turtleneck or a dress is a well-known streetstyle look. Choose a leather or leather-look model, as it keeps its shape.
Which harness size should I choose?
Measure your underbust, waist and hips and compare with the size information on the product. For elastic, choose the smaller size if in doubt; for leather, the larger one. Many models are adjustable and fit S to L.
How do you wear a harness comfortably?
Snug, but with room for a finger under the strap everywhere. Loosen all buckles first, then tighten strap by strap from top to bottom.
How do I clean a harness?
Hand-wash elastic harnesses in lukewarm water. Wipe leather and leather-look with a damp cloth and hang to dry, out of the sun.
